Love’s Own Terms – Chapter 3

Its the last day of filming for Heartstrings. Shin Hye  leaves for the Philippines the day after tomorrow.  Yong Hwa will be following after a couple of days. It was a wonderful 3 months of filming. Shin Hye feels that she got to know the real Yong Hwa more the last 3 months than 3 years ago when they did “You’re Beautiful”.

Shin Hye felt on pinch on her cheeks. “Yah!” as she touched her cheek. She turned around to see Yonghwa smiling his mischievous smile. “Are you daydreaming again, Shin Hye,” Yong Hwa said as he laughed at her expression.

“Yah, Oppa…that hurts,” Shin Hye said with a pout and started rubbing the spot where he pinched. Yong Hwa knew that it didn’t but enjoyed babying her. It’s one of those things that came about when she had that accident.

He will never forget that day when they found out that Shin Hye was in an accident. He went directly to the emergency room of the hospital when he received the call from his Manager.  The relief he felt when he saw her sitting up on the bed and asking the nurse attending to her how her staff were doing and if they were all okay struck a nerve in him. He never noticed how naturally nurturing Shin Hye is. He suddenly felt this very protective instinct towards Shin Hye and their relationship since then had developed into a much closer friendship than when filming started.

“Shin Hye, don’t be such a baby..we both know you did not feel a thing..hahahaha…stop thinking that you can make me feel guilty”, Yong Hwa said just before he took a gulp of water and sat beside her on the bench.

Shin Hye was taking a break just before Yong Hwa decided to join her by the bench. It was a chilly morning and the morning mist just lifted. Final scene will be filmed in this beautiful tree lined park…THE kissing scene. Both were nervous about it the first time they were handed the script for the ending. But the fans have been clamouring for a “good” kiss scene and they both decided they owed it to the fans who showed so much love to the drama since they aired  the first episode.

“Oppa, are you ready for the scene?” Shin Hye asked unconsciously looking at Yong Hwa’s expression intently trying to see any trace of hesitation or any sign that he is not that keen on doing the scene.

The first time Yong Hwa read the scene he felt excited at the thought of having such an intense scene with Shin Hye. He already knew that as an actress, Shin Hye would be able to do the scene well. But there was a pressure on his part being the man on how good the kiss scene would be and this thought scared the living daylights out of him.

“Yes, a little nervous?…You?” answered Yong Hwa.

“Why would you be nervous?? We already talked about this..we discussed this for 2 days?” said Shin Hye in a confident voice but inside she knew she was just as nervous as he was.

“Yah! Who would not be nervous? I know YOU have done this type of scene several times but I haven’t?!” said Yong Hwa amusing Shin Hye further with his panicked tone.

To take his mind off the scene, Shin Hye asked about their next project in the Philippines. “Oppa, aren’t you excited about going to the Philippines?”

“Yes, I can’t wait to see you in a bikini..” said Yong Hwa then followed with a loud laugh that some of the crew stopped to check where the laughter was coming from.

That remark earned him a slap on his shoulder. “Ow!! What?! “ Yong Hwa said while still trying to contain his laughter.

They heard someone call to them and telling them that “THE” scene is ready to be filmed. Yong Hwa stood up and automatically extended his hand to help Shin Hye up. Her hand always felt warm and comforting every time he held it.

A faint sound of a phone ringing could be heard. “Oh, that’s my phone, “ said Shin Hye. Then her face brightened up like a newly changed light bulb when she saw who was calling.

“Geun Suk Oppa!” Shin Hye said as she answered the call.

“Why are you calling? Missed me already?” Shin Hye said in a teasing manner. Yong Hwa hesitantly signalled that he will go ahead to give her some privacy to take the call.

“Ok, Oppa. I will be right along. Its Geun Suk Oppa.” Shin Hye said as she waved to Yong Hwa.

Geun Suk heard the exchange since Shin Hye did not bother to close the mouth piece of the phone. “Oppa” ? Who else was she calling “Oppa” ? , he thought to himself. He knew it was an unreasonable thought but when it came to Shin Hye, his thoughts would always run to the illogical.

“Yah! Shin Hye ya…I am already at the airport for the flight to Cebu. I just wanted to call you before I left. Are you done filming?”

“Yes, Oppa. We are just about to film the last kissing scene “, replied Shin Hye.

So they are filming the last kiss scene, thought Geun Suk. His first thought was whether it will be a passionate one and if so how passionate. Then he shook those thoughts aside. “This is for the drama and why would it matter if it was a passionate one, “ he said to himself. But his thoughts kept on thinking otherwise.

“So, will you be imagining me instead of Yong Hwa?” Geun Suk blurted out before he realized how it could have sounded to Shin Hye. “Err..I mean, will you be using our last kiss scene in You’re Beautiful as inspiration…” (“Geun Suk, you are babbling..” Geun Suk thought to himself) as he tried to sound that he was teasing.

Shin Hye laughed at the remark but she could feel her cheeks going red and her ears getting warm. “Yah! Oppa, didn’t you know that Yong Hwa kisses better than you?,” Shin Hye teasing back knowing that what she said would really bother Geun Suk more.

“Brat!” was all Geun Suk could say because his mind was already working overtime on how the scene would look like and those were not welcome thoughts to him.

“Oppa, I need to go…the PD might get upset if I don’t hurry. See you in  a couple of days?”

“Yes, ANJell will be together again soon. Fans have waited for 3 years for this. I hope we do not disappoint them,” Geun Suk said with a worried look.

“We won’t, Oppa. Yaksok, we will do our best for the fans,” said Shin Hye with a smile.

“Chalga yoh, Shin Hye ya” said Geun Suk as he closed his phone.

Geun Suk did not realize how much he missed spending time with his friends until this project came up. It has been a whirlwind two years since after “You’re Beautiful”.  He missed Hongki’s antics, Yong Hwa’s musical genius and Shin Hye’s ability to just make him feel happy just because she is near. It will be a great three months for them all he will make sure of it.

Shin Hye arrived at the set feeling exhilarated. PD has already instructed them how he wanted the scene to be like. Yong Hwa saw that Shin Hye was glowing when she came back. She never looked more naturally beautiful.

Shin Hye approached PD and signalled Yong Hwa to join them. Both of them discussed the scene several times since they received the script and they came up with a lot of good suggestions that they would like to discuss with the PD.

The PD listened to what their ideas were and they decided to try to two possible endings. One would be as scripted and another would be what Shin Hye and Yong Hwa was proposing.

They will shoot first as the script dictated. Shin Hye went to where she was suppose to be coming from and Yong Hwa went to the other end of the path. PD yelled , “Action!” and Kyu Won  proceeded to walk towards Lee Shin along the path. The scene went on as scripted with the kiss scene at the end.

As Yong Hwa bent down to kiss Shin Hye, he felt very awkward but at the same time a sense of  excitement. Too excited perhaps because his lips landed on Shin Hye’s cheeks instead of her lips. “Cut!” PD yelled. “Sorry,” Yong Hwa said immediately. Shin Hye was shooting daggers with her eyes because they had agreed that they would do well so that they would not have to keep repeating the take.

The 2nd take, Yong Hwa was able to kiss her on the lips and Shin Hye’s lips were very tense. He could feel how stiff her shoulders were. “Maybe she is also as worried as I am about this scene too, “ thought Yong Hwa as he waited for the Director to yell, “CUT!” and they both breathed a sigh of relief.

“Oppa, I thought PD will be making us do it again,” said Shin Hye

“Yah! Was kissing me that repulsive!? “ said Yong Hwa pretending to be hurt by what she said.

“Hey, you two. We are setting up for the scene again. This time, we do what you proposed. Be ready again in 5 mins”, PD told them as he went to the refreshment tent.

Shin Hye went to sit by one of the benches while they waited for the crew to set up. Yong Hwa sat beside her. Shin Hye suddenly felt dizzy and Yong Hwa immediately caught on to what was happening.

“Shin Hye, kan chan na?

“Am ok, Oppa…” but she was swaying then fell backwards. Yong Hwa was already there to catch her. He immediately yelled for help and Manager Jun was immediately beside him. Together, they brought her to the dressing room.

Laying her down the couch, one of her assistants immediately had a cold towel for her. “What happened?” asked Manager Jun. “I don’t know..one minute she just sat down then I saw her swaying…when I asked her if she was ok she said yes then fell backward” answered Yong Hwa with a worried look on his face.

“Maybe she just didn’t have enough sleep” said Manager Jun, “she told me that she had a hard time sleeping again last night. Nightmares…”

“What kind of nightmares?” asked Yong Hwa.

“She would not tell me,” said Manager Jun.

Shin Hye moaned and then opened her eyes. “What happened to me?” was the first thing she asked. “You blacked out.”, replied Yong Hwa. “Kan chan na?” asked Manager Jun.

“Am okay, thank you…both of you…” she said as she tried to sit up, “just give me a couple of minutes, I will be out for our next take”

“Shin Hye ya, are you sure you are not too tired?” said Yong Hwa as he sat beside her on the couch. Manager Jun and the other staff silently slipped away seeing that Shin Hye was okay. Yong Hwa brushed an errant hair from her forehead and tucked it behind her ear. The gesture was done automatically without him realizing it. The gesture was not lost to Shin Hye who was very appreciative that her friend was concerned about what happened. Yong Hwa has been very protective of her since her accident.

“Yah! I am not that frail. I was just not able to sleep well last night” replied Shin Hye.

“Bad dreams?” asked Yong Hwa

“I see that Manager Jun has been telling tales..” Shin Hye said as she looked at Yong Hwa for a confirmation.

“We were not talking behind your back if that is what you were implying. We were all worried about you just now. Do you want to talk about your dreams? They say it helps when you talk about it.” explained Yong Hwa.

Shin Hye leaned forward to give him a kiss on his cheek because he was being a very good friend but showing it in a very awkward way. It was too adorable for her to resist the impulse.

“Hey! What was that for? Do you want to be killed? Do you know what will happen to you if BOICE fans would see you?” Yong Hwa exclaimed while touching his cheek.

Shin Hye laughingly said,” Don’t panic…it was just a “thank you” for carrying me all the way here”

“Oh! Still, you would get into so much trouble…what kind of girl would just steal a kiss like that,” Yong Hwa continued to tease Shin Hye who was laughing so hard that color came back to her cheeks when she looked so pale a while ago.

“Stop it!…. Stop it! My stomach will start aching soon because… of… all the laughing” but she still continued to laugh while holding her stomach with one hand and covering her mouth with the other.

The door to the dressing room suddenly opened. Both of them looked who interrupted and saw Manager Jun signalling that the set was ready.

“Are you sure you are up to do this?” Yong Hwa asked.

Shin Hye stood up and grabbed his hand, “Let’s go, Oppa…Let’s finish this and finish this well”. She turned and gave him a dazzling smile.  He smiled back.

PD yelled,”Action!”

The scene starts from when Kyu Won charges into the music room where Lee Shin was practicing.

Kyu Won (said angrily) :

Hey, Lee Shin. You’re such a bastard!

Lee Shin (arrogant tone) :

I told you not to look for me again. I told you already.. I won’t participate in the director’s show.

Kyu Won (in anguish):

Why didn’t you tell me? Why did you think that you can hide it from me?

I heard all of it from the Director.

If you were injured, then say that you’re injured.

I didn’t even know and I tried so hard to hate you.

Lee Shin :

Forget it.

Kyu Won :

Forget it? Is that all you can say? Who gave you the right to hide this from me?

If you wanted to break up, then you should have just said so. Do not use your hand as an excuse.

Do not worry, great Lee Shin… I will leave you alone now and I will never bother you again.

(Kyu Won turns and slams the door behind her)

Lee Shin is finally realizing what Kyu Won’s words meant to say and he suddenly felt very empty. It was different when he knew that she was in the UK and making a name for herself. He always hoped that once his hand would heal then he would go back to her if she would still have him. Now, he felt everything has really ended and the emptiness is eating him up.

Should I go after her? No…she is better off without me. “Yah! Lee Shin, this is what you wanted. For her to be able to live without you being a burden to her.” With these words, tears started to fall from his eyes. “Its really over…” The words sounded very hollow to his ears.

The Director found Lee Shin still sitting in the Music Room just as Kyu Won had left him. He touched Shin’s shoulder and gave it a comforting squeeze.

“I don’t understand how two people who loved each other all this time could waste that love away.” the Director said.

“Don’t you love her anymore? If you don’t, then why are you moping here. You should be very happy that she said that she will finally leave you alone and disappear from your sight forever. That is what you wanted wasn’t it?”

“What do you want me to do!!? I can’t offer her anything! The doctor said my hand might be worthless!!!! I don’t know anything else except my music. She is better off without me!!!!,“  exclaimed Lee Shin as he turned his angry eyes at the Director for provoking him.

“Is she? And are you off better without her, too? Love is a feeling that some people only dream in a lifetime to experience. That is what I know and I was given a 2nd chance to have again. Do not waste what you have over the “what ifs” and just hold precious the miracle of love that you were both given. You may not have it again… Both of you would be stronger together, who are you to think that she would be stronger without you…” with those words the Director left.

After a few more minutes, Lee Shin picked up all his things and decided to leave for home. As he walked the path to his bike, he began to remember 2 years ago when he first found her…or was it when she found him. That was the happiest he had ever been. As the Director once said, “Kyu Won has the type of personality that always made people happy when she is around.”

He got his bike and before he realized it, he was going to places where they were happiest and where their love grew deeper with their understanding for one another.

The tree lined path of the park where they had their first official date was now empty. He decided to take a breather on the bench where they once sat and he could not believe his eyes, he had to blink once because he wasn’t sure she was really there or it was his need or was it his want for her to be there that he actually conjured her up from thin air.

She had her back to him, her shoulders looked so dejected. She looked up and saw him. Eyes wide with recognition. Time stopped as they both decided what the next few seconds could mean to their future.

Kyu Won waited for him to say something. When nothing came, she turned her back and decided to accept what Fate has decided for them.

Lee Shin grabbed her from behind to stop her from leaving. She did not turn around for there were tears of uncertainty in her eyes. She did not want to hear those words of rejection again.

Lee Shin (said in whisper that could hardly be heard) :

Please don’t go…

Kyu Won (still with her back turned) :

Is there anything else left to say?

Lee Shin (said in a very determined voice) :

I love you…

Kyu Won slowly turned around upon hearing those words that she has longed to hear.

Lee Shin :

Please don’t go…I am very sorry for everything I have put you through.

I have been very selfish.

I was afraid that I would be a burden to you and that you would eventually get tired when the burden gets heavier so I rejected you before you can reject me.

I am being selfish again now by holding onto you.

The doctor still can not guarantee my hand will be back to the way it was.

But I don’t think I can let you go again…

He hugged her very tightly. Kyu Won felt his sincerity and she hugged him back with all the strength that her little body could muster.

As they pulled back to look at each other.

Kyu Won :

Pabo… how could you hurt us both this way. Didn’t you know.. didn’t you learn how good we are for each other.

With those words, Kyu Won leaned forward and kissed him deeply with all the pent up emotions that the past year has built up. After the initial shock, Lee Shin took over the kiss with a passion that told her how much he missed her.

Shin Hye was prepared to do the kissing scene, what she was surprised about was when Yong Hwa took over the kissing. “Remember that its Lee Shin kissing Kyu Won…that’s all…” was what Shin Hye was reminding herself.

“CUT!”

“CUT!”

“CUT!”

Yong Hwa slowly raised his head and stared at Shin Hye in a dazed gaze. For a while, both of them stood looking at each other as if they were the only two people in the world. Then all of a sudden they heard the burst of applause and laughter.

Yong Hwa woke himself up from his daze. He slowly raised his hand to wipe away the tears from Shin Hye’s face.

“Ken Cha Na?”

“Errr… Ken cha na, Oppa… all the girls now will want to kill me if they show our version of this scene” Shin Hye said hoping to lighten up the atmosphere but she could feel her cheeks and ears burning up.

The PD came towards them with a very happy expression on his face. “ Both of you did very well…very well indeed… I was overwhelmed with all your emotions. Yah! At last we are done and both of you have done well..Kamsahamnida. I loved your version but I can’t promise it will be as we shot it. “ The PD gave them both a pat on the back for a job well done and left to take some more shots of the surroundings.

Yonghwa was looking at Shin Hye from the corner of his eyes checking to see if she is as affected as he was.

“Oppa, I did very well, didn’t I? So, you need to treat me to dinner?” Shin Hye said trying to overcome the awkwardness of the situation between them all of a sudden.

“Ok, let me wash up…but are you sure you are up to dinner? You still look very pale,” Yong Hwa said as he extended his hand to feel her brow. Shin Hye shrank away by instinct and saying, “Am okay, Oppa. I swear…I just need food to revive me” and smiled expectantly at him.

“Ara, we’ll go to our favorite restaurant, is that okay Princess Shin Hye? Your wish is our command” Yong Hwa said as he bowed as if bowing to a royal princess.

This gesture got him a whack in the arm as expected. “OW!”

 

Happy 2nd Birthday YAB!

To me, its been only a year…To many its been 2 years since they have seen You’re Beautiful and fell in love with the fictional group ANJELL.

To those who don’t know ANJELL, they are Park Shin Hye (aka Go Mi Nam), Jang Geun Suk (Band Leader – Hwang Tae Kyung) , Lee Yong Hwa (aka Kang Shin Woo) and Jeremy (aka Lee Hong Ki).The story was so simple but the characters (and I mean all the characters-major and minor) had their significant place and were all lovable to the eyes of many.

A lot of the articles have described “You’re Beautiful” as having a “cult” following because up until now, the fans have cherished the drama and continue to reminisce from time to time wishing that the story never ended with Go Mi Nam and Hwang Tae Kyung that night after the concert on the terrace. Personally, I feel that there is still a lot of room for the story, but it could be the fan girl in me wishing for a season 2.

The actors and actresses have moved to greater heights since YB (as most fans fondly call the drama). It is  with great pride to see them soar to new heights and knowing that they have not reached their full potential yet at this point.

As I feel very thankful for having stumbled onto the drama and the new friends that I have gotten the chance to get to know because of it, I would like to share this wallpaper to commemorate its 2nd anniversary  :

I think the one lesson this drama has taught and taught well is about friendship. It continues to spread that lesson as individuals from all ages, across countries and culture could interact and get to know one another, form a bond by just having the drama and its characters as a common point of interest.

Happy 2nd Birthday YAB! It is a miracle that a simple show could have changed so many lives..Its really something to be thankful for.

I just finished Heartstrings episode 7 last night and really loved this particular episode above all so far. The characters are beginning to interact more and hopefully more endearing emotions will start to show.

Anyway, my post is more of the song I heard Kyu Won (lead actress, Park Shin Hye) sang. A very moving song for her character’s audition for the 100th anniversary show and the song rather stuck to me. I know that her version is all over the internet at the moment but I wanted to hear the original version sang by CN Blue. For those of you who are also interested, here it is :

Hayate the Combat Butler OST

This Taiwan drama stars Park Shin Hye, George Hu and Tia Li.

Synopsis of the drama : (source: wikipedia)

Ling Qui Sa (Hayate /George Hu) is buried by his parents in debt and no way to pay it back to their debtors. So Xiao Sa thought that he might just go to the dark side and kidnap someone and get a ransom.But instead of kidnapping, he ended up saving a rich girl named Xiao Zhi (Nagi/Park Shin Hye) from being kidnapped. Xiao Zhi then hired Qui Sa as his butler and falls in love with him.

I have not read the japanese manga version where this drama was inspired from but the series is very light and funny. If you have nothing much to do on Sunday nights and would like to get a good laugh, you can watch Hayate on GTV or FTV at 2140H (Taiwan time).

Reliving the Etude Moments of Park Shin Hye and Jang Geun Suk

Substitute to Comfort Food : You’re Beautiful (Kdrama 2009)

Work has been very trying lately. And during these times I always turn to re-running You’re Beautiful (Kdrama) to make the day easier to bear.

I think I have re-ran the series more than 100 times and the story still makes me laugh and cry at the same time.

This video is one of my favorite scene in the drama. It is a sad one but a very memorable scene for me. I feel that this it the 1st time that TK and MN were on equal ground for once. Feeling something new that they have not felt for anyone before… My interpretation of the scene… Hope you like it…

In Anticipation…Heartstrings (Kdrama 2011)

I have been caught by a creative bug since last weekend. I am learning how to Photoshop and putting together music video clips.

If you would notice, my subjects are more or less the same for the prints as well as for the videos. This is actually an avid “fan girling” project. Been a fan of Park Shin Hye since her Stairway to Heaven days. She has an upcoming drama that I am looking forward to titled (you guessed it) : Heartstrings ( 넌 내게 반했어)

Heartstrings is a romantic melodrama set in an Art University and is about those who run after their dreams with sweat, tears and sweet love.

Lee Shin (played by Jung Yong Hwa of CN Blue) is a university student majoring in modern music. He is also the vocalist and guitarist of the band “The Stupid.” Shin is known for his good looks and strong passion for music, but in reality he is cold, lacks interest in anything unrelated to music and has neither dreams nor plans for the future. He initially likes Jung Yoon Soo, a dance professor at university, but this all changes when he meets Lee Kyu Won.

Lee Kyu Won (Park Shin Hye) is a bright and outgoing student who was born into a prestigious family and is majoring in traditional Korean instruments, especially the gayageum. Kyu Won’s grandfather, Lee Dong Gun, is one of the top 3 traditional musicians of his age and his biggest wish is to see his granddaughter become a traditional music prodigy. Trying to live up to her grandfather’s expectations, Kyu Won immerses herself in training and becomes a university student who knows nothing outside of her studies. As her friends are fans of “The Stupid”, she was forced to go to the band’s concert with them. There she saw Lee Shin performing live, and is immediately captivated by him.

In preparation for the drama (and since I am inspired to learn Photoshop) I started fiddling and began doing some wallpapers for this drama. I do love changing the wallpaper of my pc according to the drama I am watching at a particulart time…yes, its a “thing” for me…

I also thought of sharing these wallpapers to fellow fans while we excitedly wait for June 29, the show date.

This is my first attempt at a music video simply because I miss this show very much. It was funny, light and the cast is simply adorable.

Love’s Own Terms – Chapter 2

“Oh, this is going to be such a beautiful morning…” Shin Hye thought as she saw the rays of sunlight entering her room through the slats from her window. She stretched and felt her two babies were sleeping just beside her pillow. She kissed them both on their heads and continued to stretch then grabbed one of her pillows and hugged it.

“Hmmm…what will I be wearing tonight…” she thought. Mentally going through all her clothes in the closet and picking an outfit to meet the boys tonight.

At around 7:00AM, Shin Hye dragged herself from the bed and proceeded to the bathroom. When she went to the kitchen to grab some breakfast, she saw a pot of porridge at the stove. There was a note on the fridge. Shin Hye read the note, “ I left porridge on the stove. Just reheat it. Eat a healthy meal. You have a long day today. Your schedule is at the bulletin board at your office. Jun said he will be by to pick you up around 8:00 AM. Prepare him breakfast as well. I left enough porridge for you both. I just went to the market and will be visiting old friends. See you tonight…Oma”. “Wah! I have the best Mother in the whole wide world…everything today will be good…”. “Omo…I need to get dressed” thought Shin Hye as she rushed back to her room.

Today’s schedule is dance practice at the studio in the morning and gayageum lessons at the Seoul National University of Arts. “Oh, the professor will be so happy at the progress I have made” Shin Hye thought proudly.

Manager Jun came in around 8:00 AM as he said he would. Shin Hye has already packed everything she needed for the day including the outfit she would be wearing for the ANJELL reunion dinner that night. Shin Hye and Jun had their breakfast and talked about the schedule of the day and for the rest of the week.

After breakfast, they both left on Shin Hye’s van. Shin Hye arrived at the dance studio around 10:00AM. Manager Jun said he will be going to the office but he will be back with the van to pick up Shin Hye around 12NN.

Geun Suk just woke up from a deep sleep. “Boy, was he tired,” he thought to himself as he stretched like a cat on his very comfortable bed. He went to sleep the minute his head hit the pillow. “What time is it,” he wondered. He reached for the clock by his bed side. “Omo! Its 11AM!!! I need to get dressed..I think I have a meeting in one hour. Where is Geunsama? Why didn’t he wake me?” Geun Suk rushed through his bathroom routine. The shower was refreshing and effective in taking off the last dregs of sleep from his body.

Geun Suk went to the kitchen and found Geunsama having breakfast with Big Brother Kurt. Both men greeted him as they saw him enter. “Ya! Why didn’t you guys wake me up. We have a meeting with the record company in an hour!!” Geun Suk made a quick grab for the cereal box and a bowl. Then got some cold milk from the fridge and started preparing a quick breakfast.

“Your meeting has been moved to 3 pm,” Geunsama informed Geun Suk as he smiled at Kurt. “We knew it was too cruel for us to wake you up so early after such a hectic schedule during your Asian Tour, we decided to give you a break today”. Geun Suk finally felt his shoulders relax and smiled back at this friends. “Today is going to be such a good day. He received Shin Hye’s text last night just as he came home that dinner was on for tonight. It will be at around 8PM at the Japanese restaurant where they last met. Hongki, Yonghwa and Shin Hye will all be present. Wahh… it will be nice seeing everyone together again. I wonder if they will love my news as much as I did when I heard the offer.. it will be a chance for us to work together again but this time not in Korea.” Geun Suk was deep in thought as he ate his breakfast.

Before anyone knew it, it was already 6PM. Shin Hye was just finishing her session with her gayageum instructor, who was very happy with the progress she has made since Monday. “I need to change my clothes and take a quick shower,” she thought. Jun texted that he was waiting for her at the car park. Shin Hye waved to her instructor and thanked her again as she made her way to meet Jun.

The car park was dark at this time. Most of the students have already left for home. Only the night class students will be in and some have not even arrived yet. The car park was almost empty so it would have been easy to see the van. She saw no van when she entered the parking area. She tried to call Jun again but his phone was out of reach. “Hmmm…it is very unlike Jun to not meet me at the door of the college,” Shin Hye thought.

She tried Jun’s phone again but it was still out of reach. Just then, she saw a security guard roaming the parking area and she waved to him. The security guard stopped just beside her and Shin Hye asked if he saw a white van in the parking area or a man of Jun’s description anywhere near the car park or just outside the college exit. The guard said no and that there was no van of Shin Hye’s description at any of the parking areas of the University but he will call their Campus Security Office to check. Shin Hye’s heart began to thump faster as she tried Jun’s phone again. “He just texted a couple of minutes ago that he was already here..what could have happened?”

A flash of light brightened the far side of the parking area as headlights opened. Someone was just about to leave the parking area as Shin Hye heard the engine erupt in an otherwise quiet night. Shin Hye would hear the radio reply from the security officer at the Campus Security Office that they could not find the van she was looking for. The security officer turned to her to report what she has already heard. He then asked her if she would need any more assistance or if she would like to come with him to the office so that she could wait there since darkness has further enveloped the parking area.

Shin Hye was undecided whether to wait or just take a taxi to the office where she intended to change her clothes and to freshen up. The car that she thought was going to exit stopped just behind her while she was deciding what to do next. That unmistakable deep voice said,” Its okay, officer. I was late in picking up my friend. Thank you very much for helping her.”

“OPPA!!!!!” Shin Hye turned around and there stood Jang Geun Suk smiling mischievously wearing a black shirt with silver slits of thread intertwined into the cloth , black jeans, a colored scarf around his neck as he was getting out from his car. “Wahhh! He has always been a handsome devil..But he seems more so tonight” thought Shin Hye as she smiled back at him.

“Why are you here? How did you know I would be here? And where is Manager Jun??!!! Ya! You guys set this up, didn’t you?!! I was already getting sick with worry…” Shin Hye started saying in a machine gun like fashion that Geun Suk couldn’t help but start to laugh as he was getting scolded by his dongsaeng. It did not slip his attention that Shin Hye is getting prettier and prettier as she stood in front of him now with her hands on her hips while balancing a musical instrument on her back and her back pack on her shoulder. She was dressed simply in a salmon colored shirt and black jeans with her newly cut hair that made her pixy shaped faced look cuter if that were at all possible.

Shin Hye was trying her best to look annoyed but failing miserably as Geun Suk continued to laugh at her tirade. “Ya! Stop laughing, Oppa!! Its not funny! I could have had a heart attack from worrying,” said Shin Hye as a smile began to crack on her face.

Geun Suk took a deep breath before he could speak trying to contain himself from the laughter that was still engulfing him. “I called Jun this afternoon. I asked where you were. He told me that you had practice at the Seoul National University of Arts until 6PM. I finished my meeting with the record company early so I told him that I will give you a surprise and pick you up from the University. I saw you just as I shut down my engine and…” as broke into fits of laughing again, “ errr…I could not help but want to see what you would do if you could not find Jun…” he said smiling with his eyes looking directly into hers as if to see if she also saw the humour in his actions.

Shin Hye finally relented and laughed out loud at seeing Geun Suk’s expression. Geun Suk felt a flutter in his chest when he saw her laugh.

“Oppa, you owe me one for this and I intend to collect..” Shin Hye said as she approached the other side of the car to get in. The security officer after being assured that everything was okay decided to leave quietly.

Geun Suk got back into the car and started the engine. He turned to Shin Hye and felt the full impact of her smile. “She really looks happy to see me,” he thought, “Ummm…err…Well, Shin Hye, do we go directly to the restaurant?” stuttered Geun Suk as he felt his heart flutter an extra beat again.

“Oppa, I need to change my clothes…could we drop by the office?” said Shin Hye as she tries to fasten her seat belt. Geun Suk automatically helps her and once it was fastened their eyes met startling both of them. She could feel his breath on her cheeks. “Shin Hye, get a grip of yourself. This is Geun Suk Oppa. You will look like an overripe tomato if you don’t control yourself.” Geun Suk could not help but turn his eyes from hers and move down to her lips.  Geun Suk shook himself before he could do anything stupid and sat back to his seat. There was a moment of silence before Geun Suk replied more confidently this time, “Okay, just give me the directions”. The car pulls out of the drive way and exits the university.

The whole ride to the office was uneventful. Shin Hye started telling Geun Suk about her new drama and Geun Suk in turn told her all about his Asian Tour. It was like they have not been parted for so long. I always feel so unburdened when I am with her thought Geun Suk as he was half listening and half concentrating on the road. Her voice always soothes me and makes me feel that I am at home…

Shin Hye’s phone rang just as they entered the office parking area. “Manager Jun!!!,” Shin Hye answered, “Yes, I am already with Geun Suk Oppa…No, its okay…you owe me one as well! I was nearly scared out of my wits. I thought something has happened to you…” Shin Hye took a sideway glance at Geun Suk who was smiling his mischievous self satisfied smile again.

Manager Jun started to relate how the whole thing came about as Geun Suk has already told her a while ago. “Ok, Manager Jun…arah so, I am just stopping by the office to change then we will go to the restaurant to meet Hongki and Yonghwa ssi. Drive safely home. Ahn nyung hee joo moo se yo!!!”

Geun Suk turned off the ignition and went around to Shin Hye’s side to open her door. “Thank you , Oppa…always a gentleman..” said in a teasing manner. Geun Suk laughed, “Ya! I am always a gentleman. Ask my mother..Hahahaha…”

Shin Hye entered the office, there were still staff working. She went into the manager’s office and started to change her clothes. She specially chose one of the new outfits that the people from her recent Cosmo shoot gave her as a parting gift. Its an elegant sequined silk halter. The blouse was made of 100% silk material, in a bright red color with sequined halter straps, ties behind the neck, gathered jewelled neckline, cut-in shoulders, drawstring waist, and a tie at very low back. Shin Hye then paired the blouse with a black leather mini skirt and black strappy platform shoes. Its the first time that she even though of wearing this blouse outside of her room! The cut at the back is low. Her whole lower back was practically exposed. She brought a short leather jacket just in case the night air became very nippy.

Shin Hye slowly approached the full body mirror hanged at the back of Manager Jun’s closet. “Omo!! I think I overdid myself. Ottokajo??” Just then, a knock came from the door. “Omo!!! Did I lock the door?” “Shin Hye ssi, are you decent? Are you done? You better hurry, you brat..we’ll be…” and for once in his life..Jang Geun Suk was rendered speechless as he cautiously opened the door.

Shin Hye was waiting for the floor to open up and swallow her whole. Geun Suk was trying to draw back reality into his senses. “Oppa!!! Ummm.. I will be ready in 5 minutes. I will just change my clothes.”

Geun Suk was willing his mouth to move and he heard himself say, “Didn’t you just change? Just wear what you have on. We’re going to be late, brat!” and as suddenly as he entered, he closed the door. Geun Suk went directly to the Men’s restroom and started bathing cold water on his face. All of a sudden the room temperature seemed to have risen. “What happened just now?” he thought. “Why am I so flustered? This is not the first time I have seen a woman’s back!!! And its Shin Hye!…I need to pull myself together. How can any decent man feel this way upon seeing his best friend’s bare back?? We grew up together for crying out loud..” Geun Suk continued to mutter to himself until he eventually composed himself and not a minute too soon as Shin Hye should be finished by now.

Shin Hye just stood there for what felt like an eternity when Geun Suk closed the door. It was not the reaction she thought she would get, but what did she expect from Oppa? Taking a deep breath, she put on the short black jacket. Sprayed on some perfume and retouched her make up. The last touch was a bright red lipstick and she is done.

When she stepped out of the office, everyone turned their heads.  Shin Hye was in a hurry and she did not even notice the stares of admiration she left behind.

Shin Hye saw Geun Suk sitting on the hood of car smoking a cigarette which he quickly put out when he saw her. “Oppa!! You said you were already not feeling well! And now you are smoking!!?? Really?!…” Shin Hye gave him that look of admonishment that would make any grown man feel repentant and a slap on the arm.

Geun Suk smiled back at her at the same time taking in her whole outfit. He wanted to tell her to lose the jacket but he would be driving and he does not think he could withstand the distraction. “What the hell is happening to him?!”

Geun Suk opened Shin Hye’s door for her and then proceeded to the driver’s seat and off they went.

The valet of the restaurant greeted Geun Suk and Shin Hye with familiarity. Shin Hye had called ahead that morning to reserve a private room for them so that they would be able to act freely without looking over their shoulder if someone would recognize them and of course…the paparazzis!

When they went into the private room, Yonghwa was already there sipping beer while waiting for them to arrive. He stood up right away upon seeing Shin Hye. For a couple of seconds, he was stunned at how beautiful she looked.

Shin Hye greeted Yonghwa enthusiastically and Geun Suk gave him a pat on the back. “Where is Hongki? Don’t tell me he’s late again??” Shin Hye said as she looked around the room for signs of Hongki. Then the door opened, and in came Hongki sporting a new hair cut. “Wah!!!” the three in the room all exclaimed as they saw him and all four went for group hug.

“Come on, lets order and we can get down to catching up with each other” Geun Suk said as he turned to sit down beside Shin Hye but Hongki already had his hand on the chair on her right side. Yonghwa sat on her other side leaving Geun Suk with no other choice but to sit across her.

During dinner all four of them were taking turns telling each other what happened in their lives since the last time they saw each other. Yonghwa had the most to tell for he does not usually get together with the three.

After dinner, the guys had more beer and sake while Shin Hye was alternating between fruit juice and sake. Geun Suk this is a good time to tell them about his news.

“How would you guys want to do another project together.” Geun Suk looked at the faces of his 3 dongsaengs.

“Oppa! What are you talking about? Yonghwa and I will be filming our drama next week. Hongstar has an album and a drama in Japan to finish and you have your movie and Asian Tour for this year. When can we work together? How? I don’t think our management companies will allow us to do another project together.” Shin Hye replied but she did like the sound of the idea. It would be great to work alongside these guys again but they have all changed. Its as if each of us have matured in our own way, Shin Hye thought.

“It would not be NOW,” Geun Suk smiled because he could see that they were interested but they are all bound by the idea that in the Korean entertainment scene very seldom do the artists get a chance to work together more than once for fear of being type casted, “more of six months from now and it will be overseas…”

The idea of working outside Korea is always very interesting for young artists for very few are given the chance to do so. Geun Suk could see that his three dongsaengs are interested and listening well to what he has to say.

“I was able to meet the representative of the Tourism Department of the Philippines in one of the shows I did a couple of months ago. She is a fan of Minam Shineyo and she wanted to talk to me about a project of promoting the Philippines as a vacation island getaway to Koreans here. After the show, I told her we can meet again and we set up a date a couple of weeks after.”

“When we finally had a meeting, she told me her idea that instead of doing a documentary like the one I did for Hawaii, she would like to do a movie showcasing the different destinations of the Philippines. I heard that they have wonderful beaches there, diving…C’mon guys, what do you think? This  would be awesome, right??” Geun Suk was trying to contain his excitement.

“Hyung, I think it is a great idea but you know that we have to run this through our management companies, but if all negotiations go well…I am definitely in.” says Hongki and put his arm around Shin Hye.

“What do you think Shin Hye ssi? Are you in?” Hongki asked looking at Shin Hye directly with a silly smile on his face as if saying that he is so happy to have more time working with her again.

“How can I refuse?” Shin Hye answered with a laugh.

“Yonghwa?” Geun Suk asked.

“Hyung, I am with you on this. If negotiations go well, I would love to do this.” Yonghwa answered. At the back of his mind, he was really happy to have a longer chance to work with Shin Hye again.

“Tree J will be the lead for this project. I will do the negotiations with your companies and with the tourism bureau.  Now, lets raise our glasses to toast that if all goes well, we will be together again in a beautiful tropical island.” Geun Suk then raised his glass and toasted to the project and its realization, “GUNBAE!”

 

Love’s Own Terms -Chapter 01

Introduction :

This is my first venture into writing fiction. I thought it would be nice to start a fan fiction that featured actors/actress from one of my all time favorite drama, “Minami Shineyo” otherwise known as “You’re Beautiful”. I hope you enjoy it as much as I continue to enjoy the journey of writing it.

Chapter 01

Shin Hye was admiring the row of blossoming sakura trees while practising the gayageum. It was a good idea to practice outside for a change. Manager Jun was right. A change in scenery is just what Shin Hye needed to inspire herself to make good in her practices. The 1^st shooting day for “Heartstrings” will be next week. She is still has to learn the song for the drama. The serenity of this park is perfect accompaniment for the music. The lake looked so placid, so still… as if for the next few hours everything is at peace.

It was mid afternoon, just after lunch when Manager Jun saw Shin Hye in a corner of their sitting room strumming on the gayageum with lines of frustration etched on her face. It was then that Jun convinced Shin Hye to take advantage of the good weather and go to the nearby park located near a lake to get inspiration for her playing. She has not been herself of late. Maybe it was too much stress preparing for the drama, the hectic schedules for the photo shoots and missing someone in particular who by the way has not even called for the last week or so based on what he knows. But he could be wrong he thought. Shin Hye could be very secretive at times. And he really does not want to pry into her private life.

“I have not been feeling myself of late” thought Shin Hye to herself while trying to learn and memorize the music that she will be playing for one of the scenes in the drama. “I guess I am feeling the stress of going into the new drama. What if it does not live up to the fan’s expectations? I have to start shaping up. Fighting!  So many people are counting on me. This is my next drama after Minami Shineyo. I have to do my best!  I am so glad that Yonghwa accepted the role. This would make working so much easier and more fun.  I wonder where he is right now? Should I give him a call?”

Shin Hye looks for her Iphone in her bag.  Just then her phone started ringing. “Hmmm, Geun Suk Oppa is calling”. “Oh, Geun Suk Oppa…What’s up?”. “I am currently in Japan meeting with the producers of my movie. I will be flying back this afternoon. I thought to give you a call. How is your drama coming along? You will be filming soon, right? Are you still going to film in Japan?” Geun Suk said while trying to catch Geunsama’s attention that he will be right along. “Oppa, we will be filming by next week. I was just about to call Yonghwa to check if he is done preparing for his role. CN Blue has been travelling a lot lately because of the promotions of their new album. I am not sure if he has given time to memorize his script and prepare his character. We both have to make good.” “Ya! Both of you will do good. Both of you are so talented. Shin Hye, I need to go. Hyung is already signalling that our flight is about to leave” said Geun Suk. “Oh, you’re already at the airport?” answered Shin Hye. “Let’s meet up with Yonghwa and Hongki when I get back…maybe tomorrow? I have news for you” Geun Suk said while getting his hand carry and started his walk to the gate. “Really?? What news?” Shin Hye suddenly felt exhilarated. “I can’t say much right now,” smiling mysteriously as Geun Suk knows the mystery will drive Shin Hye crazy with wondering. “I will tell you when we are all together..I have missed you Shin Hye” Geun Suk saying the last phrase almost in a whisper that you would wonder if Shin Hye actually heard. But hear she did and her face broke into a very special smile that just lit up her eyes. “Ok, Oppa. I will call everyone and make the arrangements. Call me when you land and I will tell you what schedule we agree on” said Shin Hye. “I will only have tomorrow night , then I leave again.. I really want to see all of you guys…This is really good news…” said Geun Suk.

He really missed Shin Hye’s bright personality he suddenly thought. And saying it out loud made the longing so much more felt. This week has not been a particularly good week of him. The Asian Tour is beginning to take its toll on his health. Its my fault for not taking better care of myself I guess thought Geun Suk to himself. Last night or was it at dawn when I suddenly missed Shin Hye’s voice and light banter. I have been wanting to give her a call but there just wasn’t time.

This new project that would involve all four of them would be like a breath of fresh air to him. He will not be working alone again with all the burden just on my shoulders thought Geun Suk. “I understand, Oppa. Will see if Hongki and Yonghwa can make it. Take care!” said Shin Hye which brought Geun Suk back to reality. “I will call you when I arrive..” said Geun Suk and said his hurried goodbye as he took his seat on business class beside Geunsama and immediately turned off the phone for the fasten seat belt sign has already been turned on. Shin Hye heard the click of the line at the other end before she can say goodbye.

“What is Oppa’s news?” thought Shin Hye. “Wah! Its so nice to hear Oppa’s voice. It has been a while. Hmmm…. I miss him. And he misses me“ Shin Hye begins to shake the dazed feeling away. “ Get your head out of the clouds, Shin Hye. He treats you like a dongseang. He misses you because you keep him amused… Ah yes, I need to call Yonghwa and Hongki to see if they are available tomorrow night. It would be great for all us AN JELL to meet together again. All of us have been so busy since after Minami Shineyo”

Shin Hye excitedly dialled Yonghwa’s manager’s number since Yonghwa never had his own phone. Some weird idea of his that having a mobile phone will not give him any privacy. “How anyone can live in this day and age without a handy phone is beyond my comprehension” thought Shin Hye while shaking her head. The phone was busy.

Shin Hye tried Hongki’s number next and it rang. “Yeboseyo? Shin Hye ssi?” answered Hongki. “Ya! Hongki? How are you? Are you in Seoul?” answered Shin Hye.

“Shin Hye! Good to hear from you. Yes, I just got home a couple of days ago. I took a break from filming the drama in Japan for FT Island’s new album. I need to go back next week. I was just about to call you and ask if you could cook kimchijeon again for us. The guys really loved it, specially Jong Hun. He ate half of it while I was doing vocal exercises!! I almost ended up with nothing!! And I was the one who asked you to cook it for me in the first place. Ya! These guys will be the death of me..” said Hongki. Shin Hye could not help but laugh out loud as she always does whenever she gets to talk to Hongki.

“Ya! I will not cook again for you again until you promise not to tweet it out anymore. Do you know how much trouble we got into?! But that is not why I called… Geun Suk Oppa called just a couple of minutes ago. I think he is feeling stressed and tired from his Asian Tour and is inviting us..you, Yonghwa and me to dinner for tomorrow night. Can you come?” Shin Hye said while she started gathering all her belongings because she would need to go home. She could already see Manager Jun approaching her from the car park. “Well, can you?” said Shin Hye when she did not hear Hongki reply immediately to her question. “Hold on, Shin Hye…I am asking our Manager if we have anything on for tomorrow night. You know that we are pushing our new album and I still need to go back to Japan for my filming. So little time…” said Hongki. Shin Hye signalled Manager Jun that she will be along to the parking lot. She is just finishing her phone call to Hongki.

Then Hongki came on the line again, “Okay, Shin Hye. We don’t have anything on but we will finish around 7pm. Is that okay?”. “Okay, I will call or text you back after I have spoken to Yonghwa. I am still having a hard time calling him. His Manager’s phone is always busy. Do you have another number that I can reach him?” said Shin Hye. “Call Min Hyuk…he always answers his phone..” says Hongki then proceeds to dictate Min Hyuk’s number. Shin Hye grabs a pen from her pants pocket and scribbles the number on her palm.  “ Got it…call you back…” then Shin Hye hung up her phone.

She gathers her bag and the gayageum and walks to the car park where Manager Jun can be seen texting just beside the car. “Manager Jun, ANJELL will be having dinner tomorrow. I don’t have anything scheduled do I?” Jun looks at the diary on his phone, then looks up,” No, you don’t have anything for tomorrow night. How was your gayageum practice? Did the fresh air help you clear your head?” “Yes, it definitely cleared my thoughts. The scenery here is so beautiful. I love the blooming sakura trees. It will be summer soon and we will not see them again until next Spring. My playing today sounded better. I have mastered about 50% of the song. But my fingers are raw again.” Shin Hye looking down at her fingers and seeing redness starting to show. “Calluses will be forming sooner than later” she thought. She sighed as she climbed into the car.

Jun drove directly home. Shin Hye tried Yonghwa’s manager’s phone again but kept getting a busy signal. After two more tries, she decided to try Min Hyuk’s number. Min Hyuk is one of the youngest in the CN Blue group and plays the drums for the group. The phone started to ring, then “Yeboseyo?” said a voice from the other end. Shin Hye replied, “Yeboseyo, this is Park Shin Hye. Is this Kang Min Hyuk?” There was a moment of silence on the other line before someone said, “ Shin Hye ssi? Yes, this is Kang Min Hyuk… Hello!” Shin Hye answered, “Min Hyuk ssi, sorry to trouble you but I have been trying to get in touch with Yonghwa. Are you with him?” “Ahhh, Yonghwa…okay, hold on, he is just talking to the sound engineer. We are at the studio,” said Min Hyuk. “Oh, is it convenient for you to talk? I did not mean to disturb your recording” Shin Hye said. “No..no.. we are done for the day. We are just about to go for dinner when Yonghwa felt the need to talk to the sound engineer about the recording session today. Hold on, here he comes…Hey! Yonghwa Hyung…over here” Shin Hye could hear Min Hyuk say over the phone. “Its Shin Hye…she needs to talk to you…Ya! this is the reason why you should have your own phone…People who want to talk to you go to so much trouble tracking you down…” Min Hyuk could be heard saying to Yonghwa in a teasing voice.

“Shin Hye! What’s up? Can’t wait to hear my voice? We will be seeing each other next week when filming begins…” Yonghwa’s smiling as he said those words to one of his closest friend. “Ya! Yonghwa…do you know how hard it is to catch up with you? After all the new projects and new album you have you really do need to invest in a handy phone… Min Hyuk and your Manager will not be always with you. Do you even realize that if something happened to you and you are alone you would not be able to call anyone for help?” said Shin Hye smiling the whole time.

“Shin Hye ssi, you know very well how I feel about handy phones… now, what’s up?” said Yonghwa as he walked beside Min Hyuk to the car. “Ahh..I almost forgot why I called…Geun Suk Oppa called a while ago and is inviting all of us ANJELL for dinner tomorrow. Can you come?” said Shin Hye excitedly. “Don’t tell me you can’t…Hongki already said he was available tomorrow at 7PM” Shin Hye automatically said right away before Yonghwa could say anything. Yonghwa laughed when he heard how excited Shin Hye was for a reunion of ANJELL. She did not even allow him to answer before she threatened him not to say no. Obviously she will not be taking no for an answer.

“Shin Hye…I have not even said anything yet and you already have me saying NO,” said Yonghwa still trying to contain his laughter. Only Shin Hye could make him smile like this with only a phone call, Yonghwa realized. “So, is that a yes?” Shin Hye answered. “Hold on, let me ask our Manager what we have on tomorrow…Although I remember him saying we have an album signing somewhere…I don’t remember,” said Yonghwa. “Okay, go ask..I will wait… but you still can’t say NO…” said Shin Hye. “I already get that from your first sentence…Hahaha…okay, hold on…” said Yonghwa.

A few minutes passed before she heard Yonghwa’s voice again on the phone. By then, Jun was already going up the driveway of her house. “Yonghwa ssi, still there?” said Shin Hye, thinking that they might have been disconnected because of the long silence on the other end of the line. “Shin Hye, I’m sorry…we have an album signing in Busan until 6PM tomorrow”. Yonghwa felt very disappointed that he could not join them tomorrow night. Yonghwa tried to talk to his manager to let him leave early tomorrow night  so that he could join the dinner but he was told that he couldn’t.

“Shin Hye? “ Yonghwa said when he did not hear any reply to his announcement. “I am still here. Couldn’t you talk to your Manager? Its just this one night?” Yonghwa could here the disappointment in her voice. Yonghwa wasn’t happy either with the situation but he could not disappoint the fans and the other CN Blue members. Yonghwa did not like disappointing Shin Hye either.

He stopped walking just before reaching the car. Even Min Hyuk stopped in mid stride wondering why Younghwa stopped walking all of a sudden. “ I am really sorry, Shin Hye ssi. This was scheduled a long time ago. The fans will be there. I do not want to let my group down as well.” Yonghwa tried to explain as delicately as he could. “A rah so, Yonghwa ssi. I am sorry to sound this way. I was so excited to all of us together again.” Shin Hye said as she got down from the car. Manager Jun held the door for her because she was getting her bag and the gayageum out from the back seat. Manager Jun then got the gayageum from Shin Hye and proceeded to the house letting Shin Hye finish her phone call.

“Shin Hye, I am excited to see all of you again…I still owe you dinner, remember?” Yonghwa reminding Shin Hye of his promise when he made her wake up so early when she was filming Hayate in Taipei to check out his Banmal Song and promote the You Tube link. Yonghwa was so happy when Shin Hye followed through with her promise that day. Shin Hye remembering the time, smiled..”Yes, you still owe me a delicious dinner…We will miss you…We’ll go to that Japanese restaurant where we had our dinner last time, remember? Come if your schedule changes. For now, I will tell Geun Suk Oppa and Hongki that it will just be the three of us for tomorrow night.” Shin Hye then said her goodbye just as she entered her room and shouting “Oma, I am home”

Yonghwa still felt bad for not being able to join ANJELL reunion tomorrow night. He was very quiet at dinner while the other CN Blue members and their Manager continued to discuss the schedule for the album launch and how good the sales have been so far. He did not even eat much or even realized that he was already eating the garnishings. Min Hyuk nudged his elbow to catch his attention. “Hyung, are you okay?” Yonghwa brought himself out of his thoughts and smiled at his friend. “Yes, sorry..were you asking me something?” said Yonghwa directing his attention to Min Hyuk.  “Hyung, you were already eating the decorations on the plates…was Shin Hye’s phone call that disturbing to you? I thought it was just a call to ask you to dinner” said Min Hyuk smiling mischievously because he knew Yonghwa was always a bit dazed whenever he speaks to Shin Hye or he will wear a stupid grin the whole day. Min Hyuk often wondered if Yonghwa felt more fondness for Shin Hye than what he has told him so far.

Yonghwa realizing what Min Hyuk was saying started spitting out the plastic leaves that decorated the dish. Min Hyuk started laughing together with the other CN Blue members. “Okay, if you will be this way then just don’t come to Busan with us” said CN Blue’s manager. All the while, the group got together and came up with a bogus album signing just to see how Yonghwa will react because he could not join the ANJELL reunion dinner. They all knew that Yonghwa has a special fondness for Shin Hye since Minami Shineyo, his first acting assignment.

When Yonghwa heard what his manager said, he looked to the other side of the table and saw 4 people laughing their head off. Min Hyuk almost fell out of his seat. Everyone was enjoying them selves at his expense. But Yonghwa was so happy with the news that his main thought was to call up Shin Hye again and then he will get back at everyone for their joke at his expense.

Shin Hye was just getting out of the shower when she realized that her phone was ringing. She wore her robe and wrapped a towel around her wet hair. Then she made to reach her Iphone on her dresser while trying not to step on Nori, one of her beloved puppies. “Yeboseyo?” then she heard Yonghwa’s voice stuttering as if his mouth was trying to catch up with what his brain was trying to say. “Yonghwa ssi? …. Slow down..Slow down…I don’t understand what you are saying…”

Yonghwa took a deep breath, “Shin Hye ssi…I can make it tomorrow..” Shin Hye laughed and started jumping up and down in her room…”Wah…Yonghwa ssi..you have made me so happy today…ANJELL finally complete for tomorrow’s dinner”. Yonghwa was so happy to hear the lilt of her laughing voice. “Shin Hye, you never said what brought on the urge to get together…”. “Geun Suk Oppa must be feeling a bit stressed..I don’t know either why the sudden invitation. He was at the airport on his way back to Seoul when he called. He just said he had news and wanted to see all of us and he only had time tomorrow night before he flies out again….Oh, Yonghwa ssi…This is going to be a great celebration…See you tomorrow…Good Night!”

Yonghwa smiled as he heard her cheerful goodnight. “And now…to get my revenge on those guys…”
